How To Skinbrush


Skinbrushing has been recommended for centuries by naturopaths. It takes 2 minutes to dry skinbrush your whole body and seconds to do your face. It costs nothing apart from your brushes and the benefits are enormous.


Here's one reason that will get you doing it: they reckon that a 2 minute skinbrush is worth 20 minutes in the gym in terms of muscle toning! Get to it....

For Your Body


Dry skinbrush before your shower or bath. Only ever use natural, non-synthetic brushes. Always brush towards your heart and avoid going over prominent veins. Go over each area with only 3 or 4 strokes. Start gently and build up as you progress, but don't scrub! This should take you 2/3 minutes to complete. Do it every day for the first 2 months and then several times a week.


Start with the soles of your feet, move up one leg using upward strokes and then the other. Massage in circular movements over the outer thighs, especially if you have cellulite. Then, using upward diagonal strokes, do the sides of your body to help tighten muscles and give you your waist back. This is also useful to decongest the rib area, especially if you are asthmatic, have catarrh or have had a cold or chesty infection.


Then, brush your abdomen in a clockwise circular motion, or by brushing up the right hand side of your belly button, across the top under your ribcage and down the left hand side, thus following your colon. This is especially useful for any constipation or bowel issues. Next, do the palms of your hands and up to your elbows. 

Now you are at heart level, use downward strokes. Do down the back of your scalp, your neck and shoulders and down your arms to the elbow, remembering to concentrate on the backs of your arms if the skin is a bit saggy there! Do down your chest avoiding the nipple areas or this would be sore!


Finally, finish off with upward strokes from the base of your back up as far as you can reach and then use your handle with the brush to reach down as far as you can and stroke up the rest of your back.


Have your shower or bath and then apply a non-toxic body lotion or cellulite gel as needed.


For Your Face


This is the best natural face-lift there is and your skin will glow! Using a facial skinbrush, work upwards from your collarbone, up your throat, up your chin, up and across your cheeks, up both sides of your nose, up the bridge of your nose and then finish off with several strokes all over your forehead.
